Highly efficient washing lines
Pre-shredding: Herbold shredders for pre-shredding and debaling can be used in both dry and wet operation. Often, contaminants in the input material cannot be avoided. This requires a very robust and durable machine. Herbold shredders achieve high throughputs and have a maintenance-friendly design.
Pre-washing Unit: The multi-stage pre-washing unit removes coarse impurities, gently pre-cleans the material and reduces the amount of contaminants to protect the downstream machines from damage.
Shredding and washing: Granulators of the SML/SMS series combine high throughput with effective size reduction. Depending on the input material, forced feeding with screws is used. Double cross cutting action promotes a true shear cut with a good cutting pattern, while breaking up pockets of dirt. A subsequent friction washer separates the contaminated water and other impurities from the flakes.
Hydrocyclone separation stage: The hydrocyclone was specially designed for mechanical density separation in plastics recycling. In contrast to a separation tank, it develops a 15-fold greater separating force during density separation. An additional washing effect is achieved by the friction generated. A mechanical water treatment system continuously purifies the process water.
Drying: Mechanical dryers from Herbold Meckesheim achieve high throughput rates at low final humidity. Due to the high impact energy, impurities such as paper are separated. Depending on the feed material, extremely low residual moisture can be realized completely mechanically or in combination with a downstream thermal dryer.
Agglomeration: The high-performance plastcompactors of the HV series produce agglomerates of high bulk density at very low thermal impact.
